Visiting the shore was nice, but now I’m back. :/

Our boss told us [there are three of us] that we need to have 20 episodes written before the start of September. I don’t foresee any issues, each episode is twenty-four minutes…but it’s going to kill me. I don’t dislike the company, or the network, or my co-workers…but I truly hate this gig. It’s just not what I want to be doing with my writing right now.

I have been able to do some personal writing; I’ve decided to continue with ‘Mestiza’ as an animated series bible – attacking little bits and pieces of it when I can find the time and energy to focus on it in the evenings. It’s not been easy to write all day, and then want to get on the computer at night; but I did make some progress last week that I’m pretty proud of. [link] [pwd: gynocrat]

Whore of Turfan has gone into Chapter 2, and in this chapter we meet the Mongol Burhan, and of course, Chagantai [the Whore of the title.] I think it's looking great! I revised Chapter 3 to where I wanted it, and felt better about the changes. I'm struggling with the web-comic format because of pacing issues; I tend to draw out scenes because I know this keeps pages turning, and I'm used to writing stories that span more than one volume. Short stories are also hard for me - in the case of Poor Talouse for example...my script was rather long for a short BL piece - but I was lucky to have someone like Tinpan to cut out the unnecessary elements when she did the thumbs. In web comics, the pace has to be a little quicker – and there has to be more action per page [conversation, sex, or fighting…as long as a packed page worth reading after waiting a week!]. It’s a learning experience, and I have two very cool people working with me on it, so I don’t fear for the final product.

I’ve given Amazon's KINDLE another chance. Since the release of 2.0, I did manage to take a look at ‘Games with Me’ and with the MANGLE program, it was passable. I went ahead and converted Only Words again, and hopefully it won’t end up like the last edition. I was surprised at the amount of yaoi on KINDLE. Most of it's novels though...speaking of which - I made sure that Amazon didn’t put my graphic novels under a ‘fiction’ subcat – because there are people that prefer homoerotic fiction over homoerotic graphic novels and would certainly be annoyed if they purchased a book thinking it was a gay romance prose...
